Reclaiming Connections Workshop

Reclaiming Connections is a trauma-informed, strength-based, and relationally focused program shaped by Indigenous communities that draws on the foundations of the Connect parent program and has been meaningfully reshaped through the input of our Indigenous Advisory Circle over the past several years. This 10-week program weaves together the strengths and wisdom of Indigenous culture and traditional caregiving practice to collaboratively support parents and other carers of youth aged 8-18 years. Reclaiming Connections is delivered by two facilitators in-person or online in a group format, providing a safe and supportive context for parents and other carers to reflect on their experiences and explore new ways of seeing, understanding and responding to transitions in their relationships with their child.

We are honoured to invite you to express your interest in attending the Reclaiming Connections online workshop on September 16, 17, 18 and 23, 24, 25 from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm PT. We welcome Indigenous wellness supporters, including counsellors, mental health workers, and others, to join us on those dates. Attendance at the Reclaiming Connections workshop and mentorship is provided without cost to mental wellness workers who serve government-funded agencies.

The full Reclaiming Connections workshop will be limited to a small number of participants, and priority will be given to Indigenous wellness workers. Non-Indigenous practitioners with established partnerships with Indigenous communities and extensive experience providing culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strength-focused support are also invited to express their interest in joining us, with priority given to those with prior Connect Program training. Completion of the workshop will be followed by mentorship and support in program delivery.

If you are interested in a shorter introduction to Reclaiming Connections, we also welcome Indigenous and non-Indigenous wellness workers and community knowledge holders to join us on the mornings of September 16th and 17th. This introductory session is ideal for community-based knowledge holders and leaders with an interest in understanding how Reclaiming Connections might serve their community. It does not serve to fully prepare wellness workers for program delivery.

Those who are unable to attend the upcoming training in September but are interested in future workshops are invited to express an interest in receiving information on future workshop updates and to register on our waitlist. We anticipate future Reclaiming Connections workshops early in 2026.

To register for the September full workshop or the introduction to Reclaiming Connections, please complete the Reclaiming Connections - Expression of Interest form. Those interested in attending a Reclaiming Connections workshop in 2026 are also encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest form. Once complete, please send the form to Siobhan Avery (Siobhan.Avery@gov.bc.ca) and Janet Mainland (Janet.Mainland@gov.bc.ca) OR click the “send your form” button and attach your completed form.
